Terma Bania is one of the most popular thermal bath complexes in Poland, nestled in the scenic foothills of the Tatra Mountains in the lovely ski town of Bialka Tatrzanska (one of the top places to pull on the salopettes near Krakow, just in case you wanted to know).
In a region that’s famed for its mineral spa baths and healing waters, this is one of the leading places to soak and unwind. It’s been open since 2011 and offers a whole range of indoor and outdoor pools, a separate sauna area, plus designated kids zones.
For us, we reckon it’s fantastic for one reason: It sits RIGHT at the base of the ski runs. You can ski in Bialka Tatrzanska all day and then return to Hotel Bania (the hotel next to the spa complex) to soak in 38-degree pools while watching the sunset over the Tatras to the south. It’s nice.

What is Terma Bania?
Terma Bania is a large thermal bath and spa complex located in Bialka Tatrzanska, a popular resort town in southern Poland that’s around 1.5 hours’ drive from Krakow.
The water at Terma Bania comes from geothermal springs over 2,500 metres underground, offering naturally heated, mineral-rich pools known for their therapeutic properties.
The thermal waters are rich in beneficial minerals like calcium, magnesium, and sulphur, which are believed to help with joint pain, stress relief, skin conditions – the list goes on.
To be honest, for us, it’s just lovely to be in hot water while gazing at the mountains.
Terma Bania is divided into several zones, including relaxation areas, a fun zone for kids, and a dedicated sauna section.
Where is Terma Bania?
Terma Bania is located in Bialka Tatrzanska, a small resort town about 100 kilometers south of Krakow, near the Slovakian border. The area is famous for its natural beauty – and, incidentally, its mineral waters.
It’s situated right in the middle of the foothills of the Tatra Mountains, making it an excellent destination for outdoor activities like hiking and skiing, as well as these irresistible thermal baths.
The drive from Krakow to Terma Bania takes about 1.5 hours. That making it a popular day-trip destination for both locals and tourists. If you’re staying in the area for skiing or other winter sports, it’s a fantastic spot to relax and soothe your muscles after a day on the slopes.
Prices and Admission to Terma Bania
The pricing at Terma Bania varies depending on how much time you want in the baths and weather you want to access multiple zones (ie the pools and the saunas).
There are several ticket options to choose from:
- Standard Ticket (2.5 hours) – Around 83 PLN for adults and 63 PLN for children, which includes access to the Fun Zone and the Relax Zone.
- Full day unlimited ticket – Around 179 PLN (reduced rates for over 60s). This allows access for the whole day, including entry to the Fun Zone, Relax Zone, and Saunarium (the sauna section, which is for guests over 16 years old).
- Discounted Tickets – Children under 13 and seniors over 60 years old receive discounted admission. Families can also opt for family tickets, which offer reduced rates when purchasing for two adults and at least one child.
If you’re staying at Hotel Bania, you can enjoy discounted or even free access to Terma Bania. The exact offer depends on the package you book, so it’s always worth checking with the hotel for specific promotions.
We use the word “around” here just because prices have changed a bit in recent years and there are almost always deals on offer. Plus, there are morning promo tickets and evening promo tickets that offer more reductions and discounts. Our advice? Check the official ticketing site for up to date rates.
Pools in Terma Bania
Terma Bania offers a variety of pools. The outside one is what’s usually on the photographs of the baths and it really is spectacular, with head-on views of the Tatras. But it’s really just the tip of the iceberg…
- Thermal relax pools – These pools are designed for unwinding, with water temperatures ranging from 34°C to 38°C. They feature hydro-massage areas, water jets. The outside pool is thermal, which is why it’s so darn lovely – you can sit, surrounded by snow, and watch the sunset over the mountains.
- Fun Zone – This section is designed for families and children, with warmer waters (around 34°C) and exciting features like water slides, water cannons, and playful fountains. It’s the ideal spot for kids to have fun while parents relax nearby. We don’t really go in here, but it’s there if you wanna.
- Hot springs pools – These pools have higher mineral content and slightly higher temperatures, making them perfect for those looking to experience the health benefits of thermal bathing that the region is famous for.
- Cold plunge pools – Colder pools that help you vary the temperature.
Saunas in Terma Bania (the Saunarium)
Terma Bania also features an extensive Saunarium zone, offering a range of saunas and steam rooms designed to detoxify, relax, and invigorate.
Note that the sauna area is reserved for guests aged 16 and above. We – as kidless travelers – kinda like that.
- Finnish sauna – The traditional Finnish sauna offers dry heat with temperatures of around 90°C to 100°C. It’s perfect for intense relaxation and detoxification.
- Herbal sauna – Infused with natural herbs, this sauna provides a gentler heat (around 50°C to 60°C) and is ideal for those who prefer a milder experience. The herbs promote relaxation and can help clear the respiratory system.
- Steam baths – For those who prefer more moisture, the steam baths at Terma Bania offer a humid environment with temperatures around 45°C. Steam baths are excellent for skin hydration and detoxification.
- Infrared Sauna – This sauna uses infrared light to heat your body directly, providing the benefits of a traditional sauna at lower temperatures (45°C to 55°C). It’s gentler on the body, making it a popular choice for those new to saunas and for those who’ve got tired muscles after doing sports (like skiing, for example!).
We should say something about the design of the sauna area in Terma Bania: It’s pretty nice. The whole thing has the feel of an alpine health resort, with small plunge pools and saunas tucked into outdoor cottages here and there.
Terma Bania for kids
Terma Bania is a family-friendly destination, and kids will find plenty to enjoy here.
The Fun Zone is specifically designed with children in mind, featuring multiple water slides, play areas, and shallow pools for younger children to safely enjoy.
In addition to the thermal attractions, Terma Bania is close to several other child-friendly activities, including Bania Kids Zone, a special indoor area where children can enjoy fun games, interactive play spaces, and supervised activities while parents relax in the baths.
The adjoining hotel also has family rooms and an onsite kids’ cinema.
There’s also the skiing, which is very child friendly – the nursery slopes are right next door to the thermal baths.
Skiing near Terma Bania
Bialka Tatrzanska, the town where Terma Bania is located, is home to the Bialka Tatrzanska Ski Resort, the largest and one of the most modern ski resorts in Poland. The resort features over 16km of ski slopes and 12 ski lifts (some fof the most modern lifts in the country, no less), making it suitable for skiers of all levels.
Because of its proximity to Krakow (just 1.5 hours away), Bialka Tatrzanska is a popular destination for day-trippers who want to ski during the day and relax in the thermal baths at Terma Bania in the evening, though we’d still recommend spending the night here if you can since there’s night skiing that lets you stay on the slopes as late as 10pm!
Day trips to Terma Bania from Krakow
If you’re visiting Krakow and looking for a day of relaxation away from the city, a trip to Terma Bania is an excellent option.
The drive from Krakow takes about 1.5 hours, and several companies offer organised day trips that include transportation to and from the thermal baths with a pickup right at the door of your hotel in Krakow. Easy.
Many tour operators also offer combined packages where you can enjoy a day of skiing followed by a relaxing soak in Terma Bania’s geothermal pools.

Where to stay when visiting Terma Bania
Staying the night here is actually a great idea if you want to make the most of the ski runs and the thermal baths. It’s not far from Krakow. There are even direct buses. And you will get that escape from the city sorta vibe.
The most convenient option is Hotel Bania, which is located right next to the thermal baths. Guests at the hotel receive free or discounted entry to the pools, making it an ideal choice for those who want easy access to the complex.

- Hotel Toporów – Located just off the main road running through the village, Hotel Toporów offers comfortable accommodation with a traditional mountain-lodge atmosphere. It’s one of the original ski hotels here and it’s real nice, with a good welcome and a great spa (the pool has some of the best lighting we’ve seen!).
- Pensjonat Burkaty – A charming guesthouse located a short distance from Terma Bania, Pensjonat Burkaty offers cosy rooms and an on-site restaurant. It’s especially great for families cos there’s an on-site games room, playground, and – yep! – a bowling alley!
