Le Scandale Krakow – Drink Yo’ Tipples in Style

Le Scandale blazed on the scene some years ago with its unique brand of Parisian cabaret meets modern cool. It’s since opened outlets in Kazimierz (now the flagship) and Zakopane, so is certainly a name you’re likely to come across if you move in the right circles. What circles are those, you ask? Cocktail dresses and Gucci suits at the ready – this one’s for the fashionistas and beautiful people out there. It reminds us of the bar from the Titanic, though the only iceberg you’re likely to come across here is the big ball of frozen H2O that’s cooling your perfectly mixed negroni. For us, Le Scandale Krakow is very much a starter joint. You’ll want to look your prim-proper finest in here as you confidently order that crafter margarita. You can rest assured everyone else will.

The atmosphere in Le Scandale Krakow

Le Scandale channels the feel of a 30s speakeasy bar but leaves you in no doubt this ain’t the height of Prohibition. There’s a veritable glow coming off the neon-lit bar, where bottles of artisan Grey Goose mingle with speciality tequila and everything else in between. The drinkery spreads through a series of rooms. The first is a classic narrow bar space with retro seats. Then there’s the outside patio space that’s warmed by blaring gas heaters in the colder months. They sometimes host BBQ nights there in the summer, which is cool.

The food and drink at Le Scandale Krakow

We’ve already waxed lyrical at the cocktails in Le Scandale. At the risk of sounding a touch obsessed with mixed drinks, we’ll just say that the classics here are fantastic – they make a mean marg and spectacular bloody marys. You’re in safe hands. Beer can be a touch expensive, but that’s okay when you have moderately-priced highballs of such quality as the backup. There’s a good menu of upscale pub grub on offer too – think beef burgers with onion rings, steaks and chips, and more.

Asia K (the surname is long, unspellable, and very Polish!) is a Krakow native. She lived and worked in the city her whole life before heading off to travel the world. Today, she comes to Krakow as a regular visitor, which is just what's needed to put together expert guides for fly-in visitors and weekend breakers. She's an avid hiker (hello Tatra Mountains) and loves craft beer (mmm Kazimierz)
